**Job Overview:** The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery. **Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:** + inspects, tests, maintains, and repairs installed fire alarm detection and suppression systems. + Performs Preventative Maintenance on Detection systems, Fire Pumps, and Emergency and exit lighting. + Responds to service calls. + Resolves troubles in detection systems. + Will be required to rotate on schedule after hours. + And other duties as required. **Basic Qualifications:** + High school diploma or equivalent + Strong analytical skills. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills. + Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner. + Must be able to work with others. + Working knowledge of meters and hand tools. + A Fire Alarm Certification and/or Alabama Journeyman's License. + Must have a valid Alabama driver's license + Must be able to pass a preemployment + 4 years of experience in installation and /or maintenance of fire alarm detection systems, hold a NICET certification or equivalent and or an electrical journeyman license. + Must be able to troubleshoot and determine the equipment and material needed for repairs. + Will need to have good verbal and written skills and the ability to work with others. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:** Strength: Standing 50% Walking 20% Sitting 30% Lifting 35 lb.
