About this role

This executive-level opportunity offers overall leadership accountability for the development of a mega project, typically exceeding $1 billion in value. As the strategic leader, you will oversee the end-to-end execution of a complex and high-impact initiative, ensuring alignment with Newmont’s business goals, international best practices, and robust risk management strategies.

In this role, you will collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, environmental agencies, community representatives, and cross-functional teams, fostering transparency and alignment at every stage. You will also lead multidisciplinary teams, drive the successful implementation of the business case, champion safety-focused design, and build a culture that reflects Newmont’s values of integrity, sustainability, and innovation.

 

What You'll Do

 

Strategize: Design innovative and safe project development strategies that align with Newmont’s vision, optimizing operational and financial performance.Drive Performance: Develop and implement long-term strategies to manage costs and schedules, while establishing key performance indicators to ensure progress and timely interventions.Foster a Safety Culture: Promote a culture of continuous improvement, embedding safety and sustainability in design, and leveraging lessons learned and emerging technologies.Operational Excellence: Establish rigorous governance and assurance processes to meet and exceed safety, regulatory, environmental, and stakeholder expectations.Integrate Development: Oversee every aspect of the project, including HSE, scope, cost, schedule, risk management, procurement, and stakeholder engagement, to ensure seamless delivery.Champion Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable practices into project design and execution, focusing on minimizing environmental impacts and optimizing resource use.Leadership: Assemble and develop a world-class project team, providing mentorship, training, and opportunities for growth while building in-country expertise.Lead with Integrity: Act as a steward of the project by upholding the highest standards of integrity, care, and trustworthiness in alignment with Newmont’s values and stakeholder requirements.Manage Resources: Establish and maintain detailed budgets, cost controls, and forecasting processes to maximize value while delivering the project in line with the business case.Oversee Partnerships: Identify, negotiate, and manage business partner agreements to ensure optimal project performance and alignment with commercial objectives.What We're Looking For

 

Education: Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.Experience: Extensive experience delivering mega projects in mining, oil and gas, or other capital-intensive industries. Proven success managing complex global stakeholder relationships, including regulators, communities, First Nations, and delivery partners. Advanced proficiency in delivering underground projects, including block cave developments, tailings facilities, and renewable energy projects.Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills to inspire and manage multidisciplinary teams. Expertise in cost and schedule management, risk mitigation, and project governance. Ability to foster transparent relationships and effectively navigate complex stakeholder environments.Knowledge: Deep understanding of global standards and practices for mega project delivery. Familiarity with safety, environmental, and sustainability integration into project designs.Advanced knowledge of underground mining systems and renewable energy projects.Why Join Newmont
