General Manager
Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager (GM) to oversee the day-to-day operations of our multi-stage music and event venue. The GM will be responsible for driving the venues profitability, managing all aspects of venue operations, and ensuring exceptional experiences for artists, clients, and guests. This position requires a strong business acumen, with proven experience in managing a P&L for a high-volume, multi-faceted operation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Operations Management: Oversee all daily operations of the venue, including venue staff, event logistics, customer service, and vendor relationships. Ensure smooth coordination of all events, from booking to post-event wrap-up, ensuring timelines and expectations are met. Manage the venues staffing, training, and performance to ensure a high level of service, hospitality and efficiency. Maintain and enforce health, safety, and compliance standards for the venue. Develop standard operating procedures to ensure consistency in day-to-day operating processes. 2. Financial Management: Manage and optimize the venue's budget and financial performance, including overseeing the P&L, ensuring financial targets are met, and driving profitability. Develop and implement cost-control measures, analyze financial reports, and adjust operational strategies to maintain fiscal health. Prepare detailed financial forecasts and reports for ownership or senior management, ensuring transparency in all financial matters. 3. Revenue Generation & Business Development: Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth, including ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorships, concessions, and private event rentals. Collaborate with the marketing director to create promotional campaigns aimed at increasing audience engagement and ticket sales. Foster relationships with artists, booking agents, promoters, and local businesses to maximize the venues profile and business opportunities. 4. Booking and Event Management: Oversee the talent buyers and booking process to ensure a diverse and appealing performance schedule that aligns with the venue's brand and target audience, while meeting revenue and profitability goals. Oversee the sales director and the private event booking process, ensuring the venue meets various client needs and preferences, while at the same time achieving revenue and profitability goals. Monitor the execution of all music and private events, proactively addressing any issues that may arise to ensure a seamless and successful experience for artists, clients, and guests. Collaborate with the talent buyers, sales director, and production team to resolve any logistical or operational challenges quickly, ensuring the smooth flow of each event from start to finish. 5. Marketing and Community Engagement: Collaborate with the marketing director to enhance the venue's visibility and brand through social media, local partnerships, and other promotional efforts. Represent the venue at community events, local meetings, and networking opportunities to build brand recognition and attract new customers. Lead efforts to foster a positive relationship between the venue and the local community. 6. Leadership & Staff Development: Lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of employees to ensure a high-performing, collaborative work environment. Promote a culture of exceptional service, hospitality, teamwork, and accountability. Skills and Requirements Minimum 7 years of experience in high-volume venue management or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strong business acumen, including experience with financial management, budgeting, and P&L responsibility. Proven track record of driving profitability in a hospitality, entertainment, or venue-based environment. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to lead and manage a diverse team effectively, fostering a positive, results-driven work environment. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
