The General Manager is accountable for the profitability, productivity, and overall management of all services performed by residential and commercial HVAC technicians in support of the President NJR Home Services. Oversees all day-to-day operational activities as well as the strategic direction of Service and Workload. This position works in partnership with key Home Services Departments to provide leadership and operational expertise with an emphasis on safety, productivity, customer satisfaction, and quality for all service technicians. Major Responsibilities: • Leads the daily activities as well as the strategic direction of the Service and Workload departments. • Manages and enhances operational effectiveness and efficiency with a focus on operational excellence. • Demonstrates a leadership style that encourages communication, learning, participation, and ownership, along with a continuous focus on action, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and financial management. • Fosters strong partnerships with Marketing, Sales, Customer Experience, Accounting, Installation, Electric, Plumbing, Field Inventory Management and other Home Services departments to ensure a unified execution of the company’s business plan. • Communicates regularly with said departments to discuss current trends and identify challenges, opportunities, and effective responses to these. Meets with management team to share related information and improve collaboration and communication. • Establishes, enhances, and implements operational policies, goals, objectives, and procedures for service and workload. • Ensures all financial, productivity, and customer satisfaction objectives are met or exceeded. • Oversees Labor and Management interactions as defined by the terms and conditions stated in the Articles of Agreement between NJR Home Services and Local Union 1820 of the IBEW, AFL-CIO. • Participates in the negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement. • Coaches team members and provides feedback in developing skills and maintaining safe practices on the job. • Fosters strong relationships with Union leadership and Human Resources. Meets regularly to discuss organizational challenges and opportunities. • Coordinates with Customer Experience by providing feedback, research and response for customer complaints and compliments. • Prepares and manages an annual operations budget in partnership with the President NJR Home Services. Ensures optimal efficiency and cost savings. • Ensures compliance with all governmental regulations pertaining to the service of HVAC. Communicates changes in regulations to supervisors, sales, and service technicians. • Identifies safety concerns and implements the appropriate procedures to mitigate any risks. Oversees the purchasing of applicable safety equipment. • Partners with the President NJR Home Services to develop annual budgets and performance measures as well as future strategic plans. Position Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a commensurate combination of experience and education. • A minimum of 8 years of related experience. • Experience adeptly leading a large team to achieve goals and to provide quality products and services. • Experience developing and implementing business strategy. • Commitment to developing talent and fostering a positive culture that is in alignment with the NJR Cultural Behaviors. • Experience with a unionized workforce. • Excellent financial, organizational, and communication skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, productivity management systems, data mining and interpretation. • Self-driven with excellent planning and motivation skills. • Project management skills and experience. • Knowledge of emerging technologies in the appliance service marketplace. • Knowledge of best-in-class safety, quality and productivity measures. * The above job description is reflective of the primary duties of this position and in no way limits the supervisor from assigning any other duties, responsibilities or initiatives as deemed necessary.
