General Manager Distribution - Piney Flats Tennessee

To further our focus on operational excellence, we are seeking an experienced, high energy General Manager to lead our Piney Flats TN Distribution Center. In this key leadership role, you will manage a multi-shift, variable volume distribution operation including Inbound, Product Storage, Waving, Picking, Packing, QA, IC, Transportation, Order Fulfillment and Returns. As GM you are responsible for overall site leadership and performance as it relates to cost per unit, productivity, and fixed and variable expenses, as well as achievement of budgeted, productive direct labor standards as measured by established flex budgets. You and your team will maintain a union-free employee climate and foster a positive, values-based work culture based on employee development, accountability and mutual respect.Job DescriptionSpecific responsibilities include:Develops and implements short and long-range goals and operational plans to achieve designated site objectives.Ensures that a culture of open communication between leadership and non-exempt employees is fostered. Partners with Human Resources and operations management to proactively get in front of and / or resolve employee relations issues.Reviews existing operation with continuous improvement mindset and a focus on efficiency, with particular attention paid to areas which allow for cost reduction and improved customer service.Ensures that required volumes of orders are processed within the site according to pre-established standards of quality, efficiency and costs and reports metrics results to senior leadership.Promotes and enforces a safe work environment with compliance to all safety procedures, OSHA regulations, DOT and FM Insurance regulations.Achieves budgeted, productive direct labor standards as measured by established flex budgets. Responsible for non-labor cost accounts.  Annual budget tracking.Implements and executes site-related capital projects.

Position requirements:

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred.Experience:  10 years related experience in a similar high volume environment with a minimum of 7 years people leadership experience.Technical knowledge of distribution, pick/pack operations, systems including WMS (Manhattan) and LMS, transportation, automated packaging and storage equipment.Demonstrated successes in coaching and developing leadership teams and associates of all levels.Proven ability to make operational decisions within tight timeframes.Must possess excellent analytical and computer skills and be capable of handling a variety of issues, problems and priorities simultaneously.Demonstrated success fostering a positive work environment by emphasizing team-based work, open communication and support of corporate values.Ability to work independently and interface with multiple management levels on a matrix basis required.Strong financial management skills, ability to manage costs and complex budget required.Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.Occasional travel.
