What you’ll do:

Americold is excited to advertise an Expression of Interest for a General Manager in the Western Sydney Suburbs. This year, Americold will continue to expand its footprint into the Western Sydney market with a brand-new facility. We are committed to building a strong, supportive, collaborative leadership team at this new site.

As the General Manager, you will strategically lead all aspects of operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and financial performance. You will manage with a Best Practice approach that aligns with Americold’s Company Values while being responsible for full operational accountability and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

P&L management and continuous assessment of customer and profitability. Support the development and implementation of strategic plans to ensure the successful launch and growth of the new site Develop and implement strategies for growth and efficiency. Promote a safe work environment and support a culture of “Safety Awareness. " Ensure compliance with all safety and loss prevention policies, resolving all related matters in collaboration with the Safety Team. Ensure adherence to all company policies and local regulations. Lead and inspire a team to achieve operational excellence. Cultivate strong relationships with customers and stakeholders. Drive performance towards business goals and objectives. Partner with Human Resources to ensure fit-for-purpose workforce planning and labour strategies are in place.  Partner with cross-functional teams on Continuous Improvement efforts to drive process and productivity/profitability gains. Maintain and develop proficiency in use of CI tools and methods.  Evaluate operational opportunities, develop action plans with measurable milestones and clear accountabilities, ensure goals and targets are achieved.  Review Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and utilize other measurement tools daily/weekly to ensure consistency in operational, financial, employee, and service controls.

What Experience and Education You Need

Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree can be advantageous. Cold Storage Operations: Understanding the specific requirements and best practices for managing cold storage facilities. Supply Chain and Logistics: Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain processes, inventory management, and distribution Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills to effectively lead and motivate a diverse team Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to optimize operations and drive business growth Financial Acumen: Proven experience in managing budgets, financial planning, and achieving financial targets Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and improve processes Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders, negotiate contracts, and resolve issues Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with logistics software and technologies to streamline operations and enhance efficiency Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements related to logistics and supply chain management
