Design Within Reach is currently looking for a General Manager to join our San Marcos Outlet. You will produce sales and ensure that exceptional service is provided to all customers. You will direct all activities required to achieve sales, service, merchandise presentation, design excellence, loss prevention, and expense control goals to ensure consistency within the Design Within Reach mission. They set and monitor staff goals and determine, manage, and delegate Outlet priorities. The General Manager evaluates and coaches' employees in addition to addressing sub-standard performance and recognizing outstanding staff achievements.

Sales Generation:
Achieves Studio Sales Goals:
Leads sales efforts to achieve Studio profit goals.Communicate goals and actual sales to staff regularly.Partner with Supervisor to help overcome obstacles when goals are not being met.Holds self and staff accountable for personal goals.Ensure Studio represents the best in design through presentation and house keeping:Maximizes sales and profitability through interpretation of visual goals and directives (regular, promotional, etc.) to create a strong visual impact.Execute all company directives on timePrepare for and executes inventories on time.Meet all administrative deadlines; maintain proper files and records.Loss prevention:
Ensures the Outlet is in compliance with loss prevention and safety procedures.Addresses and resolves all internal/external loss prevention and safety situations promptly.Train and coaches' staff on loss prevention and safety situations.Staff Development: grow a strong sales staffConduct regular recruiting activities and maintain a pipeline of potential candidates for future openings.Ongoing training of current staff.Holds staff accountable to personal/studio goals.Provide consistent communication regarding personal performance.Shares company information and direction that will help advance staff and studio performance.Work environment/staff development, maintains a positive and productive work environment.Daily coaching, regular open communication, good humor, and positive associate relationsShares responsibility for own personal development through regular communications with the Area Manager.Does this sound like you?

5-7 years of transferable retail management and with a successful track record to increase salesHas an understanding and passion for modern design principles.Results oriented, able to set goals for self and others.Able to provide outstanding customer service and serve as a role model to staff.Knowledge of visual presentation techniques.Able to manage competing priorities, delegate and follow-up.Communicates effectively with all levels, in both written and verbal form.Experience recruiting, training and developing staff members.Action oriented, works with a sense of urgency.Recognize strong performance and coach's poor performance promptly. Works well with others, enjoys building relationships and teams.Design or architecture degree preferred.Associate, B.S., or B.A. degree or equivalent experience preferred.Who We Hire?
