The Position

Roche Pharma South Africa offers a unique and exciting opportunity for an executive to lead and inspire in a market context that has both elements of developing and mature markets, where the importance of customer centricity and agility are key. This opportunity includes the responsibility for a diverse sub-region, including Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, eSwatini, Lesotho, Mauritius, Seychelles and Madagascar.

As a General Manager you will act as an agile leader (Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst) and ensure all employees live Pharma International’s desired state culture. While reporting to the Area Head for Africa you will lead an externally focused and agile organization with a mindset and culture that engages our employees to bring our medicines and services to more patients faster, while shaping the healthcare system toward long-term sustainability.

Priorities on this position are to:

Deliver better outcomes for more patients faster by providing enterprise leadership to a highly externally-focused organization which is focused on co-creating with stakeholders and partners, ensuring alignment with local and global regulations, license to operate requirements and adherence to the Roche Group Code of Conduct.Establish Roche as a trusted partner by actively shaping local & broader healthcare ecosystems towards long term sustainability (including government affairs and policy engagements). Accelerate our journey to the North Star by driving enterprise outcomes and contributing in equal measures to the performance of both countries (incl. P&L responsibility) and the wider organization, fully leveraging global networks, digital enablement, and catalyzing an empowered local approach.Strengthen the strategic portfolio through fostering commercial excellence and driving a culture of inclusivity, where peoples’ ideas are encouraged, explored and valued. Requirements:

University educated in business and/or medical, MBA would be a plus. Significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a range of senior leadership and commercial roles. Strong financial business acumen and proven track record of ensuring financial governance. Strong customer focus with a keen eye on delivering patient value. Solid commercial awareness in changing economic environments with experience of impacting strategic decisions. Proven access and policy shaping experience in tough environment would be an advantage. Strong commitment to personal development and demonstration of a growth mindset. Ability to lead teams and creating a working culture that is transparent and values driven, ensuring personal growth of employees; track record of developing diverse talent and hiring the best. Demonstrated leadership aptitude, aligned with VACC competenciesFluency in English is a must
