General Superintendent Construction
**Job Overview:** The General Superintendent Construction role requires a mastery of project execution strategies, a deep understanding of workforce management, and a comprehensive knowledge of industry-wide disciplines including regulatory compliance, advanced risk management, supply chain logistics, and workforce development. The decisions made by the General Superintendent Construction are critical in ensuring that all projects under their purview are delivered to the highest standards of quality, within budget, and on schedule. They have a substantial impact on the service level, safety culture, and operational excellence at McDermott. Their strategic choices are guided by comprehensive policy understanding, judicious resource stewardship, a keen insight into the company's financial strategies, and a commitment to fulfilling McDermott’s long-term business goals. **Key Tasks and Responsibilities:** + Responsible for overseeing and managing all day-to-day job site activities, site conditions, compliance with safety and quality standards, compliance with scope, and effective management of subcontractors + Work closely with project management to complete all assigned projects on time and within budget + Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day job site activities including OSHA safety compliance + Direct field personnel according to the project plan + Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the project manager + Report any problems promptly to the project manager to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions + Maintain the schedule and ensure that work performed is consistent with the contract and will meet or exceed client expectations + Update the project schedule + Provide progress reports with the two-week look ahead of schedule to the project manager and the field staff + Maintain various files, reports, and logs, i.e., daily manpower reports, inspection logs, weekly labor reports, contracts, correspondences, submittal/shop drawings, weekly safety updates + Ensure issuance of all permits and maintain a secure area for permits to be displayed + Review subcontracts and purchase orders for completeness of the scope of work and compliance with contract documents; address all inconsistencies with the project manager + Establish an agenda with the project manager for weekly subcontractor progress meetings and ensure project issues are addressed + Perform frequent site walk-throughs to ensure progress and fulfillment i.e., safety, quality, compliance with contract documents, inspections, etc. + Assist in the preparation of change proposals to owners + Compile time and material expenditures for change orders and subcontractor chargebacks + Schedule completion of final punch list and advise project manager of any delays or challenges + Manage subcontractor closeout, transfer of utilities, owner training, work list, and punch list + Assist in updates to the project master schedule **Essential Qualifications and Education:** + High School Diploma or Equivalent + 15 to 20 years of experience within the Energy & Petrochemical Industry through all phases of EPCI project delivery + Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience and in-depth experience in large bore piping installation and pressure test + Extensive knowledge in planning and installation of piping + Knowledge of all phases of construction operations – field engineering, construction technologies, and job site management + Understanding of Critical Path Scheduling basics + Understanding of processes of pipe & valve testing and handover to completions + Ability to work as a team member as well as a team leader + Have wide experience with technical activities, including on and offshore operations + Time management and organization skills with strong attention to detail/follow-up + Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, Project + Self-motivated, self-reliant, and able to operate independently, while exercising good independent judgment and decision-making \#LI-SJ1 Our ingenuity fuels daily life.
