General Supervisor
The General Supervisor position is responsible for serving as a coordinating resource for management, hourly and salaried personnel in the daily operating and functions of the production process under the direction of the Plant Manager. In addition, manage, initiate, control and direct the activities of the manufacturing plant.
Performance Expectations
· Serve as a coordinating resource for Management in the daily operation and functions of the production process.
· Assist with the coordination of maintenance and PM activities.
· Monitor and control training activities for the supervisory staff.
· Facilitate supervisors' meetings.
· Conduct interviews and make recommendations for hire.
· Respond to employee concerns promptly and work with HR to resolve.
· Complete performance evaluations for their department as required.
· Attend customer meetings to address concerns and formulate resolutions efficiently and effectively.
· Investigate process breakdowns and assist in the root cause analysis.
· Perform 5S audits and health and safety inspections.
· Research means of reducing costs plant wide.
· Conduct monthly line meetings with employees.
· Assume a wide variety of roles to coordinate job tasks with those of junior workers, co-workers and subcontractors.
· Oversee the collection and analysis of data from productions, installations and repairs.
· Oversee the development and monitoring of detailed overhaul, repair and preventative maintenance schedules for shop tools, equipment and vehicles.
· Plan employees’ days, schedule appointments and adjust schedules as needed.
· Guide employees and less experienced workers to install new equipment.
Credentials
· High School Diploma or equivalent general education.
· Journeyman/woman trade certification in related field considered an asset.
· Minimum five years of manufacturing experience in a supervisory role.
· Able to read completed inspection forms to ensure all maintenance, repair and inspection tasks.
· Identify structures and locate dimensions in scale drawings.
· Ability to operate and troubleshoot machines and equipment.
· Ability to use basic computer applications and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

· Able to communicate effectively with employees in a group or on individual basis passing information on accurately.
· Able to communicate in both oral and written form.
· Familiarity with employee legislation.
· Ability to work independently to provide professional guidance and oversight to maintenance and installation tasks and projects.
