GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as a General Supply Specialist in the Logistics Support Center (LSC) Division of NAVSUP FLC SD GF. Responsibilities You will provide direct supply, logistics, husbanding, training, and other support for ships and units home ported and visiting the local area. You will perform general supply specialist work and deal with supply/logistics issues and coordinate a wide variety of traditional logistics and non-logistics services at the request of various shipboard Department Heads or Commanding Officers. You will provide supply support work for all aspects of shipboard support in the local area for all gray hull platforms, submarines, Carriers, and Military Sealift Command ships. You will evaluate customer transportation requirements for personnel and material, obtains necessary transportation assets / services, including helicopters, small boats and vehicles You will identify problems and collates suggestions from assigned units, analyzes service providers’ support methods to determine deficiencies and recommends possible improvements Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year General Supply Specialist experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying practical knowledge of a wide range of well-established and commonly applied supply principles, concepts, methodologies, regulations, policies, and instructions related to all aspects of supply and logistical shipboard support including organizing and analyzing varied data to identify and resolve supply and logistic problems associated with providing direct supply support, husbanding issues, public works services and port services for ship support. Examples may include some or all of the following: 1) Research and/or analyze a variety of supply issues and concerns in order to make decisions that impact ship readiness and material procurement; 2) Provide guidance and support regarding supply/logistics management processes and material procedures in order to support supply, logistics, husbanding, training and support for ships; 3) Analyze and recommend ways to solve material support problems; 4) Analyze plans, work and deployment schedules to recommend multiple ways to solve material support problems; 5) initiate corrective action to eliminate system deficiencies and recommend system change requests.; and 6) provide alternative solutions to ships based on ships areas of concern and difficulties encountered by similar vessel.
