Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance or construction of state buildings and related structures. The job responsibilities include, but not limited to: Description of Duties + Install and maintain security, climate control and other facilities systems + Assemble, install and/or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment + Diagnose and correct mechanical and structural problems, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs + Ensure all maintenance conforms to quality standards and designated timeliness + Handle hazardous materials according to laws and regulations + Install, maintain, evaluate and repair any components of the systems + Operate plant equipment and building automation systems + Operate trade related tools and equipment + Maintain/assist an accurate inventory of all materials and equipment + Perform basic and skilled painting, carpentry, and roofing tasks + Perform general maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment + Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines operate smoothly, efficiently and physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate + Read, utilize blueprints, plan, drawing and sketches to determine the work to be performed and resources required + Renovate or build additions to existing facilities + Repair and perform maintenance on plumbing fixtures, lighting, air vents and air conditioning units and facilities + Wear safety equipment and observes all safety practices and regulations Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: + Basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry skills + Basic computer skills + Basic American Sign Language (ASL) skills Consideration/interviews will begin as soon as a list of applicants is established.
