The below job summary and responsibilities reflects the duties of the Staff Engineer level; the Engineer and the Sr. Engineer will differ as different skills and/or experience will be required. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.
Position Summary
The Generation Development Engineer - Electrical provides the Integrated System Planning organization and individual project teams with technical guidance and engineering support to plan and develop new dispatchable generation projects and large-scale improvement projects at existing generation plants.
The candidate should have experience in design engineering of power generation plants or large-scale process plants, strong understanding of plant design and construction standards and practices, experience with project or contract management, and the principles and practice of power systems electrical engineering. Specific duties include preparing technical specifications, plant layouts, one-line diagrams, power flow calculations, liaison between plant electrical engineering and transmission system engineering, sizing electrical equipment, contractor submittal review, developing engineering standards, and similar tasks. Familiarity with large transformers, synchronous generators and condensers is preferred.
The candidate will work collaboratively to advise a diverse project team including project managers, environmental professionals, supply chain, fuels and transmission representatives, leadership, etc. Development work is largely focused on project origination and conceptual design leading to technology selection, cost estimates, schedules, preliminary layouts and one-line diagrams, etc., to approximately the FEL-2 level of detail. The work also includes engagement with major equipment vendors and construction contractors, reviewing technical submittals, supporting transmission planning and regulatory activity. The role has limited engagement in detailed design or construction activities.

2+year's relevant engineering experience.
Demonstrated broad knowledge & proficiency in specialty area, knowledge of related specialties, & general knowledge of other related disciplines.
Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills & core competencies for this engineering level established & documented by the organization.
EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) strongly preferred
Minimum Requirements - Senior Engineer ($92,300 - $123,033)
Required bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency)
5+ years relevant engineering experience EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) required
Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level established & documented by the organization.
Preferred PE (Professional Engineer) registration may be required depending on business need
