Summary:
The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing generators to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, installation support, and customer guidance while following established safety standards and technical procedures.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsAccurately inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with generatorsPerform routine and preventive maintenance to minimize generator downtimeRepair malfunctioning generators and replace defective components as necessaryOversee and assist with installation of new generators, ensuring they are fully operationalTest generator output and performance to confirm compliance with specifications and operational requirementsMaintain detailed documentation of all maintenance, repairs, inspections, and service actionsAdhere to safety protocols and procedures while servicing equipmentCommunicate with customers to identify generator needs and recommend appropriate solutionsProvide guidance and education on generator operation and safety practicesRemain current on technological advancements and implement updated techniques when applicableOrder, track, and replace parts, materials, and suppliesSupport process improvements related to maintenance procedures and service operationsContribute to reporting, recordkeeping, and the development of technical documentationPerform other duties as assignedQualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, and generator componentsStrong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to read technical drawings and schematicsCompletion of a technical program in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent professional experienceProven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctionsExcellent communication, customer service, and documentation skillsAbility to consistently follow and enforce safety protocolsMinimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with civilian and/or military-style generatorsAt least 2 years of unsupervised field experience performing comprehensive generator maintenancePreferred Qualifications:
Technician certification from FG Willison, Cummins, Caterpillar, or similar organizations, preferredPrior military or LOGCAP generator maintenance experienceKnowledge of medical supplies and equipment is preferred
