EMI is hiring a Generator Mechanic to maintain and repair Portable and Stationary Generators and ancillary equipment. Work involves most of the following: performing preventive maintenance, inspecting for, diagnosing and repair of malfunctions to the generator’s mechanical equipment and systems and related electronic controls. Work may involve dismantling machines to perform repairs using hand tools.

The Generator Mechanic responsibilities include performing routine preventive maintenance, replacing broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock, ordering replacement parts from OEM Distributors or sourcing from local vendors. Duties also include preparing written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops, reassembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation.

Salary

$30.00- $45.00/hr. (DOE, relevant OEM /model generator experience and certifications) plus an additional $4.57 per hour fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401K!

Key Responsibilities

Inspect and maintain generators and related electronic equipment   Perform preventive maintenance to include oil and filer changes, adjustment and replacement of belts, replacement of air and fuel filters Diagnose, service and repair systems that are found on generators and equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls Maintain service logs and records of maintenance on pieces of equipment Maintains supply of spare parts Prepare equipment repair orders to include time and materials Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques Performs additional duties as assigned

Essential Skills

Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of various makes, models and sizes of generators and ancillary equipment and systems Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of generators and equipment Skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions Ability to read and implement guidance from OEM manuals and schematics Be adaptable and flexible in work situations
