Job Overview
Provide clinical consultation to patients regarding occurrence of and risk for birth defects, mental retardation and inherited disorders. Consultation includes identification of risks, offering of appropriate testing, receiving and communicating test results and writing summary reports. Provide genetic education to medical and genetic counseling personnel.
QualificationsWork requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics or closely related field, and two to three years of work related experience. Genetic Counselor License required. Requires analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, attention to detail and problem resolution. Must possess strong customer service, communication, organizational & interpersonal skills.
