**Responsibilities**
Provide genetic counseling to patients and risk assessment services to the appropriate patient population.
+ Counsel and educate patients and family members by providing information regarding genetic and inherited conditions. Obtain and review medical records to facilitate evaluation, conduct review of the literature, obtain patient and three-generation family history and risk assessment.
+ Facilitate genetic screening and diagnostic testing process, including informed consent and result disclosure.
+ Communicate all genetic test results, risk estimates, and standard recommendations to the patient and any referring physicians.
+ Help patients and families adjust to genetic information using counseling skills and document all patient interactions.
**Requirements**
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ Certified Counselor specializing in Genetics obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or Canadian Board of Genetic Counseling (CBGC) accepted.
+ Licensed Counselor specializing in Genetics credentialed from the Maryland Board of Physicians obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
**Additional Preferences**
+ **Two years experience in Women's Health or Maternal Fetal Medicine**
