Job Summary Directly responsible for the development and deployment of one or more software applications supporting the management, processing, and analysis of genomic data. Provides support as a consultant and collaborator to bioinformatics scientists and software engineering teams and as a mentor to other engineers. Applications may include: • databases, data warehouses, and knowledgebases • user-driven workflow and analysis systems • genomic data annotation and interpretation services • genomic data processing pipelines Job Duties + Provides technical leadership in bioinformatics software engineering. + Gathers requirements and designs software solutions for maximizing the value of genomic data. + Manages the software development lifecycle for assigned projects. + Contributes directly to software development and oversees the work of direct reports or matrixed team members. + Mentors other engineers. + Serves as a resource for bioinformatics expertise and collaborates with bioinformatics scientists and others to translate ideas into production software solutions. Position Details Demonstrated expertise in the following areas + Software development lifecycle (SDLC) + Python, Ruby or a similar modern scripting language + Database design and implementation + Developing user-driven web applications and APIs + Genomic data and related analytical tools, particularly NGS data + Experience with clinical human genetics data preferred + Experience in a regulated healthcare (CAP, CLIA, NY, FDA, etc.) or similar environment preferred + Experience with cloud software development (AWS or similar) preferred Education Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Required), Master's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred) Experience Minimum of 7 years-Relevant experience* (Required) Certification(s) and License(s) OUR PURPOSE & VALUES: Everything we do is about caring for our patients, our members, our students, our Geisinger family and our communities.
