Genomic Software Engineer Lead
Job Summary Directly responsible for the development and deployment of one or more software applications supporting the management, processing, and analysis of genomic data. Provides support as a consultant and collaborator to bioinformatics scientists and software engineering teams and as a mentor to other engineers. Applications may include: • databases, data warehouses, and knowledgebases • user-driven workflow and analysis systems • genomic data annotation and interpretation services • genomic data processing pipelines Job Duties + Provides technical leadership in bioinformatics software engineering. + Gathers requirements and designs software solutions for maximizing the value of genomic data. + Manages the software development lifecycle for assigned projects. + Contributes directly to software development and oversees the work of direct reports or matrixed team members. + Mentors other engineers. + Serves as a resource for bioinformatics expertise and collaborates with bioinformatics scientists and others to translate ideas into production software solutions. Work is typically performed in an office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Position Details Demonstrated expertise in the following areas + Software development lifecycle (SDLC) + Python, Ruby or a similar modern scripting language + Database design and implementation + Developing user-driven web applications and APIs + Genomic data and related analytical tools, particularly NGS data + Experience with clinical human genetics data preferred + Experience in a regulated healthcare (CAP, CLIA, NY, FDA, etc.) or similar environment preferred + Experience with cloud software development (AWS or similar) preferred Education Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Required), Master's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred) Experience Minimum of 7 years-Relevant experience* (Required) Certification(s) and License(s) OUR PURPOSE & VALUES: Everything we do is about caring for our patients, our members, our students, our Geisinger family and our communities.
