Your work environment at EXP

Under the leadership of the Project Manager in our Windsor, ON Office, the Geo-Environmental Engineer/Scientist will participate in the conception and development of various commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects in the Geotechnical and Environmental testing field.

Your Responsibilities
 

Carry out a wide range of Geotechnical and Environmental projects including Geotechnical Investigations, Phase I and Phase II ESA’s and Excess Soils Management projects.  Project coordination including arranging utility locates and site access, perform borehole layout. Monitor geotechnical drilling, test pit excavations and soil sampling activities, including sample logging, soil sampling and monitoring well installation, using standard field methodologies and protocols under guidance of senior engineers/professionals. Water level monitoring. Prepare geotechnical reports with deliverables within submission deadline. Collect samples for environmental (analytical) testing and prepare chain of custody form for submission to an independent laboratory. Perform desktop studies, collect and interpret data, and prepare the Phase I, Phase II reports as well as reports (APU, SAP and SCR) for Excess Soils Management (O. Reg. 406/19). Assist with Inspection and Testing projects from a review/reporting perspective.

 

The Skills, Knowledge, and Ability We Seek

 

Engineering Undergraduate Degree (Civil Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering) Registered as a P.Eng. or P. Geo. is preferred although EIT is acceptable. 3+ years of experience in a similar role preferred Good working knowledge of Excess Soils Management (O. Reg. 406/19) is a must Ability to understand and resolve problems while on construction sites Able to read drawings and specifications Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact when interacting with fellow staff, clients, consultants and contractors Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Ability to write clear field reports, including making recommendations Strong organizational and time management skills as well as attention to detail Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to construction sites as needed Must be a self-starter with ability to grow into a project manager role
