Job Description

The Sample Technician is responsible for collecting samples, labeling samples, and operating in a safe and efficient manner.

Job Duties:

Sticker sample bags for 5150 drillsTake bags and tags to 6290 drillsTake proper field duplicate samplesTake proper collar samples when necessaryPick up samples from drills and take to lab with CRM and SRMFollow company safety and environmental standardsComplete Stop & Think forms for each new taskAssist with connex work

QualificationsAbility to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsAble to lift 50lbs

Key Working Relationships 

Excellent problem solving skills with complex problems, including both definition of the problem and generation and evaluation of solutions.Excellent planning and organisational skills, including goal setting, group performance monitoring and the ability to modify priorities where necessary to achieve these goals.The ability to make a decision from a range of competing options where the outcomes are not entirely predictable.Effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to convince others to co-operate and contribute.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, talk, hear, and see.Be able to walk over rugged terrain up to 6 miles per day in hot & humid and/or cold weather with occasional rain & snow.Must be able to work shift work with 12 hour shifts.Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.Work is in a surface mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.Safely operate 4WD light vehicles on highways, off-road, and on an active mine site.Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.Must be able to climb 25’ vertical ladder sections unaided.Occasionally lifting moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) may be required during the workday.Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including a hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
