Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Geologist – Mine Geology who will be responsible in maintaining a grade control system to ensure the quality of ore production is obtained as well as the quality and quantity of the ore delivered to the mill. This role is responsible in supervising resource definition and hydrogeological drilling, as well as other sampling and mapping campaigns to better understand and consequently communicate results to the Technical Services, Mining Management, Process, and Surface Operation teams to make timely and efficient decisions. The role will report to the Senior Geologist – Mine Geology.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Communicate to the drilling contractor the designs and requirements for specific diamond drill holes to be drilledEnsure that drill designs are followed by the drill contractor with regards to collar location, hole depth, hole alignment, and core size, among othersCommunicate with mine planning team the weekly drill schedule to be incorporated with the weekly mine plan to ensure drill cuddies are availableReport daily drilling progress and activitiesAssist in core logging activities, layout and preparation of core samples for loggingPerform Magsus, pXRF, Terraspec measurements, data collation, management and assist in data interpretation and core dispatchEnsure underground stockpiles are marked correctly for proper material handling and haulingMaintain underground stockpile tracking database and communicate to operations its statusRecord and validate daily material movement from undergroundDaily report tonnes and grades of materials moved from undergroundAssist in preparing stope notes and stope reconciliation reportDocument daily underground development advances through face maps and photosDaily update of geologic map in the Geology officeActively promote safety health & environmental awareness in order to prevent injuries and/or damage

Licensed GeologistBachelor's degree in Geology or other relevant disciplineAt least 4 years working experience in Open Pit or Underground GeologyWith a valid Professional Driver’s licenseProficient in 3D software packages (Leapfrog, Minesight, Surpac, Deswik, etc)With geology and grade control experience is highly regardedPossess a strong drive for health and safety managementDrive for continuous improvement and innovation.
