Job Description Summary This Geophysicist position covers the following key areas: Geophysical roles: Adept with geophysical work processes (velocity, amplitudes, Amplitude Variation with Offset (AVO) modelling, rock physics, seismic processing, etc.) for asset development and exploration. This role must keep abreast of new and emerging technologies, maintain close understanding of geophysical and geological trends, and leverage them when appropriate. Geological roles: Familiar with exploration geology work processes and must be able to integrate geophysical workflows to support subsurface processes. Familiar with volumetric, resource and risk assessments. Geophysical support for exploration and development well programs would also be expected job functions. Key Responsibilities + Designs and oversees seismic data acquisition programs, process and interpret 2D and 3D seismic data, and perform advanced seismic attribute analysis. + Analyses geophysical and geological data to identify potential hydrocarbon bearing formations, assesses uncertainty and mitigates subsurface risk in exploration and development programs. + Integrates well data with seismic interpretation to generates calibrated subsurface maps and cross-sections that feed subsurface models. Collaborates with earth scientists and engineers to build integrated subsurface models and identify prospectivity of target areas. + Generates RPFS (Rock Properties from Seismic) evaluations, AVO (Amplitude Variation with Offset) analysis, velocity models for time-to-depth conversions and seismic Inversions. + Conducts geophysical evaluations that assess viability of exploration prospects and development programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including earth scientists, engineers and economists. Defines well prognoses for all approved wells to support the business’ well performance objectives. + Collaborates with cross-functional drilling teams and provides geophysical expertise for the planning and execution of development and exploration wells. + Monitors drilling operations and analyse geophysical data in real-time. Evaluate logs, checkshots, VSP (vertical seismic profiles) and other geophysical data from drilling operations. + Contributes to post-well lookbacks, contributes to post-drill resource and reserves bookings, and prepares technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders. + Implements and contributes to new geophysical technologies and workflows. + Complies with government(s) regulations on all aspects of the development and exploration lifecycle. What You Will Bring Qualification + Bachelor’s degree in geophysics, physics, earth sciences, geology, geological engineering or related fields (Minimum of second-class honours, upper division). + Masters or Doctorate degree in geophysics, physics, geology, geological engineering or related fields with less than 10 years of directly related work experience. Experience + 1 - 10 years post qualification experience + Good knowledge in industry-standard geophysical software (e.g., RokDoc, SeisSpace/ProMAX, Hampson-Russell.). + Experience with data analysis tools (e.g. as Python, R) and visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau) is preferred.
