As one of the top geology and geophysics departments in the United States, we encourage you to browse our website and learn more about our department at: geoweb.tamu.edu What We Want The Geoscience Programs Coordinator II will organize and implement events, conferences, and workshops for the Berg-Hughes Center and the Department of Geology & Geophysics. The selected candidate will also support outreach and engagement activities, coordinate with industry sponsors for student training and professional development and provide administrative support as needed. Additionally, the Program Coordinator II will ensure efficient execution of program objectives and contribute to the success of program goals/objectives. What You Need to Know + Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience. + Schedule: The selected candidate must be able to travel as needed for conferences or outreach events. Additionally, the selected candidate must be able to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines. This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. + Special Notes: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance. This position will require export-control authorization prior to starting employment. Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor of Science in Geology and Geophysics + Four years of related experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing + Excellent communication and presentation skills + Strong interpersonal and organizational skills + Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools like Smartsheet + Knowledge of scientific writing, especially geologic writing + Strong organizational and event management skills + Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes Preferred Qualifications: + Proficiency in scientific illustration and scientific writing, with preference for geologic writing + Proficiency with the Smart Sheet project management tool + Experience with Smartsheet project management tools + Experience Microsoft Office Suite Responsibilities: + Program Coordination and Outreach/ Engagement Activities: Coordinates events such as conferences, meetings, workshops, and conference exhibitions for the Berg-Hughes Center.
