We have an exciting opportunity for a Geoscientist to join the team

The Geoscientist will\:

Employ GIS and remote sensing techniques to Earth, Moon, and other planetary image data in support of International Space Station (ISS) and Artemis missions Develop funding proposals for submission to relevant scientific and technology grant solicitations opportunities Interact with scientists, engineers, managers in a highly dynamic and occasionally time-critical environment

Duties may include\:

Conducting Earth and planetary science training and curriculum development for professionals (astronauts, scientists, engineers, managers) Conducting ISS payload operations for astronaut photography of Earth Working with geospatial data such as astronaut photos, satellite imagery, lunar imagery Other duties as required *

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

A BS degree is typically required. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of tasks. Proficient with GIS and/or remote sensing software Proficient computer skills Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with teammates, customers, and management at all levels Ability to prepare written documents and present at various meetings Ability to develop innovative work ideas and work without specific tasking

Requisition Preferences\:

Use of spatial datasets, image processing Software scripting, command line skills, automation of tasks, programming language Geospatial database management, ArcGIS Online, Esri Portal, open-source GIS software Geoscience field work, lab, image science, and/or remote sensing experience Machine learning, neural networks Scientific teaching experience Mission science integration and operations Previous work with NASA and/or in the field of planetary geology

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
