We are hiring a Field Geoscientist to act as the front-line liaison between Short Range Mine Planning, Mine Operations, and Extraction Operations!Minimum Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Geology or Geophysics with 2-4 years' work experience OR Graduate level degree with 1-2 years' work experience Solid geoscience skills that integrate principles and practical applicationKey Accountabilities:
Understand and communicate the geological framework and production plan to stakeholders, with a focus on geological risks Familiarize self with the current mine plan and daily extraction performance and provide daily production ore quality forecasts Validate planned mining surfaces through analyzing and manipulating geological data and software or by conducting local field investigations (test pitting, auger drilling) Perform regular daily field inspections to ensure forecasted blending parameters equate to field observations, and communicate and record subsequent deviations Evaluate and communicate mine geohazards Perform regular oversize QA/QC inspectionsLocation & other key details:
You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, AlbertaThe shift schedule is a 5 days on/4 days off rotation (12-hour shifts) This is not a camp-based role This position is security sensitive which requires you to clear a criminal history checkIf you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
