Job Description:

This role will be part of the Geospatial Intelligence team that supports several partners with insights and analytics, mainly for Pricing, Underwriting, Reinsurance and Catastrophe related teams. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic fast-paced environment. During your internship you will receive geospatial analytical hands-on experience, with an understanding of data mining and mapping visualization, to support senior colleagues in addressing various stakeholder requirements.

Design and deliver powerful business insights, with a focus on geospatial analytics techniques.Present insights to senior colleagues and executive leaders / business partners to drive strategic results. Understand the application and business implications of the use of ETL (Alteryx) and geographic information system (ArcGIS) software, to support different web mapping applications in helping illustrate to various stakeholder teams the importance of geospatial intelligence at TDI.Participate in the design and development of climate risk models to support various products of TDI.

Job Requirements:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree in Geography, Computer Science, Actuarial Science or Finance.Must be enrolled in a degree program with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term.Relevant and progressive experience with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online and ESRI software considered an asset.Strong understanding of geospatial analysis methodologies, data manipulation and visualization techniques with preference to ESRI– ArcGIS Pro, Alteryx and PythonFlexibility to adapt and run with contending priorities and the ability to shift focus as dynamic business needs evolve.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal ability to tell a compelling story which can be consumed by business partners.Understanding of insurance industry as well as the important role spatial analysis plays in studying climate risk.Good knowledge of data science and data analytical approaches, including deep learning and federated learning.Experience with scripting languages such as Python, SQL, etc.
