Geotechnical Department Manager
We currently seek a high caliber Geotechnical Department Manager for a long-term basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in Las Vegas, Nevada. This organization is a leading National Civil and Environmental Consulting firm with a strong presence in the area.

Job Responsibilities:

Be accountable for the overall success of the Geotechnical Department.

Work with Las Vegas branch leadership team that includes Department Managers in other service lines.

Meet with various clients and solicit business locally, and coordinate with other Client offices to expand business opportunities regionally and nationally. Conduct lunch and learn presentations as necessary.

Participate with business development and marketing efforts alongside Clients’s PMs, executives, and client development professionals. You should anticipate active engagement in several professional organizations.

Provide client management (including tasks related to financial management such as AR, AP, etc) for clients that are assigned to you.

Lead team in project pursuits, including Design-Build efforts that may lead to future work.

Prepare quotes costs and fees to clients.

Supervise direct reports, perform employee evaluations, mentor, and participate in the hiring process. 

Take lead for presenting safety data to Geotechnical Team, pushing safety practices to team.

Take responsibility for the Geotechnical P&L statement including monthly reviews with Senior Leadership.

As a Geotechnical Department Manager, you will have Project Engineers, Project Managers and Project Coordinators reporting directly to you.  You shall task them to support your efforts in a diligent and responsible manner.

Lead and review geophysical investigations to obtain additional site information to supplement traditional geotechnical investigation methods.

Prepare, review and approve Pavement Quality Reports, Selected Backfill Reports, Trench Backfill Reports, and other public entity certification reports, for private and public developments.

Prepare Partial and Final Grading Reports, pad certifications, and pad recertification’s as needed for various assigned projects.

Perform computer technical support and analysis with programs such as GIS, GINT, Geosystems, AutoCad, Lpile, and StablePro as needed for various assigned projects.

Provide field inspection support and active field training for new and growing special inspectors and materials testing technicians.

Provide mentorship for EIT and other staff members.

Coordinates personnel and equipment within the department.

Coordinates with other UES divisions within the office.

Work with recruiting team for new positions within your department.

Other responsibilities may be assigned.


Qualifications:

BS in Civil Engineering from 4-year college or university

P.E. License in Nevada a minimum, western states licenses are welcome additions and will be taken into consideration

10+ years of relevant experience
