Geotechnical Engineer
Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to join our dynamic team. This role involves conducting field investigations, engineering analysis, and preparing related reports for various projects. The successful candidate will have a degree in geology, engineering geology, geological engineering, or civil engineering and must be comfortable with extensive travel and overnight stays.

ResponsibilitiesPerform and/or lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations.Design and develop plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and preparation and review of related reports.Review drawings and construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes.Perform basic geophysical field surveys such as electrical resistivity, ground penetrating radar, and utility locating.Observe and document geotechnical and geologic investigations including test borings and test pits.Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects and participate in pre-task planning.Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Maintain quality standards on all projects.Assist in research, data collection, field observation, inspection, and field and laboratory testing.Evaluate routine laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.Consult with other technical staff and supervisors on routine and less complex projects.Perform basic calculations and engineering analysis.Draft routine proposals and assist in the preparation of more complex proposals.Perform plan drafting using CAD software.Work with engineering technician crews in testing, observations, and data gathering activities on project sites, and prepare daily reports documenting activities and findings.Work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in geology, engineering geology, geological engineering, or civil engineering.3-5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and foundation inspection.Experience with field sampling, bore sampling, and foundation inspection.Proficiency in geotechnical drilling, geotechnical analysis, and design.Strong understanding of construction inspection and geotechnical investigation.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with CAD software for plan drafting.Ability to perform basic geophysical field surveys.Willingness to travel extensively and stay overnight in hotels.Work Environment

The role involves a 70/30 split between fieldwork and office work. Fieldwork includes travel to various project sites in Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Southern New York. The office work includes meetings, training, lab testing, and other duties as needed. The work environment emphasizes safety, quality standards, and collaboration with other technical staff.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $75000.00
