Geotechnical Engineering Intern (Houston)

The Geotechnical Intern will work collaboratively with the responsible geotechnical engineer as part of the Burns McDonnell Geotechnical Department. The Geotechnical Intern will support and assist in completing requests for engineering-related services by the Geotechnical Department.
Assist in the geotechnical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion as directed by the responsible geotechnical engineer.Assist with research and compile project-related data (geotechnical data, boring logs, subsurface profiles) as directed by the responsible geotechnical engineer.Assist with planning subsurface explorations and laboratory testing programs as the responsible geotechnical engineer directs.Apply basic knowledge of commonly used geotechnical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the geotechnical engineering services industry.Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, Power Point presentation.Assist with responses to general questions.Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.Present solutions to concerns.Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.Performs other duties as assignedComplies with all policies and standards
