Role description:
Arcadis Canada is seeking a skilled and dedicated Geotechnical Field Technician to join our Resilience Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical site investigation and reporting. As a Geotechnical Field Technician, you will have the opportunity to work on engineering and geotechnical projects in a multi-discipline project team environment. You will be responsible for applying foundational skills in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Oversight, QA/QC and Contract Administration. You will work closely with other engineers and environmental scientists to mitigate potential hazards and environmental impacts. As part of your role, you will focus primarily performing geotechnical explorations, field and laboratory tests, QA/QC, construction monitoring, and related services under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
Role accountabilities:
The Geotechnical Field Technician will be responsible for planning and completing geotechnical site investigations. This may include logging, sampling, and evaluation of soil, bedrock, and groundwater conditions. They will conduct field and laboratory tests on soil and rock samples, install geotechnical instrumentation, monitor, and collect data.
The successful candidate will conduct safety reviews and condition assessments, and assist in preparing geotechnical reports with findings and recommendations. They will generate and/or update technical drawings, figures, and models, and be responsible for conducting visual inspection and field testing of construction activities to ensure compliance with Construction Drawings and Specifications.
The successful candidate will also:
Manage project budgets, schedules, and team coordination; assist in preparation of technical and cost proposals. Collaborate with environmental scientists to ensure sustainable practices; ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.Key Attributes:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy. A commitment to Health and Safety excellence; ability and willingness to work in both office and field environments in a safe manner maintaining situational awareness. Willingness to work overtime and working weekends when required, to meet project requirements; Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently to complete tasks. Possess a high degree of initiative and the ability to work in a diverse team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Qualifications & Experience:
The successful candidate must hold a technician/technologist diploma from a recognized college, and have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in geotechnical site investigation and construction. The successful candidate must also have:
Valid registration with Current registration with ASET/ASTTBC or is eligible for interprovincial transfer. Minimum of 5 years in Canada to be able to complete/clear a background check. Valid Drivers License and ability to get to and from project sites.Why Arcadis?
