Role description:Due to consistent growth in our Infrastructure business, including the winning of the Torrens to Darlington project in Adelaide, an exciting position has become available within our growing geotechnical team. We are currently looking for a Geotechnical Manager to lead and grow our Geotechnical Team in Sydney.
This role will primarily focus on technical leadership in growing a profitable and viable Geotechnical Engineering business. The role is expected to lead project delivery successfully and develop local capabilities in the area of Geotechnical Engineering. You will have the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external clients including various government departments, contractors, and others.
Role accountabilities: Responsible for contributing to the current and future overall performance of the local Geotechnical Design Discipline team, and its impact to the wider business. This will require you to undertake business development activities and geotechnical management for various Geotechnical design projects in NSW. Responsible for leading the Geotechnical Design discipline in NSW, developing local capabilities, and managing design teams. Required to work collaboratively with other groups within the office and Australia region in the effective pursuit, delivery and resourcing of projects, as well as to provide input into Arcadis global skills networks within the geotechnical engineering area. Responsible for leading the development, design, and management of geotechnical delivery for small to large, complex multidisciplinary projects. This will involve coordinating people, and ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and in accordance with project budgetary constraints. Lead recruitment, staff technical development, and culture of the team. You will manage, motivate, and develop employees and contribute to the capability development of the team. Qualifications & Experience: Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) or similar. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a design consultancy environment with a proven track record and successful delivery of major infrastructure projects. Is an Engineers Australia Chartered Professional Engineer in the Geotechnical Engineering Area of Practice. Substantial knowledge of the local marketplace, and a sound client network will be an advantage. Experience on projects for RMS, TfNSW, Sydney Trains or their interstate equivalents. Excellent client-focus and ability to delivery to client needs. Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal. Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships, both with clients and team members.
