Are you an experienced Geotechnical Engineer looking for the next step in your career? Due to a strong pipeline of new project work we are looking for a Geotechnical Lead based in our Newcastle office. Day to day tasks may involve:
Perform advanced engineering design tasks on assigned projects exercising independent judgment, initiative, and in-depth evaluation of various factors for addressing and resolving unusual and complex issues or situations. Supervises and review the preparation of engineering drawings, engineering reports, presentations, and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies. Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for complex projects that require specialist knowledge; support Team Leader and marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, developing proposals exercising commercial and technical judgement, participating in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts. Collaborate with stakeholders in client project requirement meetings, coordination meetings with internal and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors in preparation and coordination of project specifications. Provide project leadership for geotechnical matters and from a point of view related to geotechnical engineering. Participate in the successful delivery of projects from a commercial, financial and technical point of view. Provide mentorship and technical support to junior geotechnical engineers and assist the Team Leader with developing the technical capability and capacity of the team. Assist the Team Leader to ensure technical excellence and sound delivery of all project related work. Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors. Apply advanced knowledge of current principles and practices of geotechnical engineering and keeps informed of new methods and developments.To be successful for this role you'll need to:
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering. Ideally have 10+ years of experience in a similar capacity with professional registration. Engineer of record on own work product, work of non-licensed engineers and technologist (i.e. Sign PS1s for own work and work supervised). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Well-developed interpersonal skills to develop, maintain and enhance internal and client relationships. Proven experience in time management and organisational skills including the ability to manage resources and delegate tasks effectively. Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn. Ongoing commitment to professional development through self-study, training and seminars, and maintaining your Continual Professional Development (CPD).What we offer
