GFANZ Capital Mobilization Lead - contractor
The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) brings together financial institutions and other financial sector participants who have individually decided to support the objectives of mobilizing capital for the net-zero transition and addressing the barriers companies face to scaling decarbonization. Seizing the economic opportunity created by the transition requires an increase in the flow of private finance across all sectors of the global economy, especially in emerging markets and developing economies, where the private sector faces a wide range of barriers to investment. As a key focus, GFANZ works with local and global partners–including governments, multilateral development banks (MDBs), development finance institutions (DFIs), multilateral fora (COP and the G20/G7)--to unlock transition finance in emerging markets and developing economies. Our work is led by financial institutions and focuses on both global and country-specific initiatives, including supporting country platforms, partnering with MDBs and DFIs to scale tools to mobilize private finance, and supporting the development of solutions to other barriers to investment. To support this work, we are looking for a highly motivated and effective individual, with 5-10 years of relevant experience, who will play a critical role in supporting the Capital Mobilization team to deliver on our strategic, policy, and technical work. This individual will lead and drive forward individual projects and partner with other team members on key deliverables and initiatives. This individual will also work collaboratively with individuals across the GFANZ global secretariat (including our teams focused on Public Policy, Carbon Markets, and Just Energy Transition Partnerships) and the GFANZ regional networks. We’ll trust you to: + Conduct research and analysis, and develop recommendations and policy proposals, on key priorities relevant to mobilizing private climate finance in emerging markets and developing economies, including on specific barriers to climate investment different markets; key policy enablers for energy transition, industrial decarbonization, and/or nature-based solution financing; development and scaling of financing tools and instruments for managing risk and mobilizing private investment; and other key topics. + Help build and manage relationships with private-sector financial institutions and other key stakeholders including MDBs, DFIs, and governments, including helping manage ad-hoc working groups and other forums for collaboration. + Collaborate with teammates to support delivery of initiatives supported by GFANZ, including the World Bank Private Sector Investment Lab, Brazil Climate & Ecological Transformation Investment Platform, Nature Investment Lab, Industrial Transition Accelerator, and other programs. + Support executive-level briefing of GFANZ leadership and principals, and communicate effectively with the wider secretariat to advance common priorities and draw on wider expertise and resources. Expectations: + 5+ years of relevant professional experience, e.g. in corporate/investment banking focused on emerging markets, development finance, climate or economic/financial policy, ideally with experience across the public and private sectors. + Knowledge of the development finance ecosystem, key trends in international finance, and issues related to the climate transition and climate policy, with particular emphasis on emerging markets and developing economies. + Excellent ability to synthesize complex sets of information and develop written and visual summaries that engage and inform stakeholders + Proven experience of working strategically and effectively with public and private sector stakeholders and building relationships across differing levels of leadership. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. + Excellent visual presentation skills. + A strong team player, able to work constructively and collaboratively across local and global stakeholders.
