SummaryUnder the supervision of a Registered Nurse andor Provider this position acts as an assist during endoscopic procedures and reprocessing per regulatory standards Supports Endoscopy Unit through cleaning and drying of scopes onlyAssists with maintaining an efficient technical operation in the Endoscopy Unit with the goal of optimal patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures Demonstrates appropriate clinical practice and serves as an expert in scope reprocessing and proper infection prevention techniquesThis position must obtain hours of continuing education every year per regulatory requirementsPosition ResponsibilitiesKey Areas of Responsibilitymiddot Performs all duties in accordance with HHC policies procedures and practices and regulatory requirements Models HHC values and HW behaviorsmiddot Follows AAMI SGNA AORN Joint Commission CDC IFUs State and Federal Guidelinesmiddot Performs high level disinfection of endoscopic equipment and maintains scope reprocessing equipment to ensure appropriate functioning following all established policies procedures and standardsmiddot Participates in initiatives such as but not limited to SpecificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalentExperiencemiddot Experience as a GI Endoscopy Technician middot Proficient in the requirements of the GI Endoscopy Technician positionLicensure Certification Registrationmiddot Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association AHA obtained within Months days of hire date or job transfer datemiddot Maintain hours of continuing education CE or required recertification per regulatory requirementsLanguage Skillsmiddot Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions and effectively communicate information in EnglishKnowledge Skills and Ability Requirements middot Maintain scope reprocessing certification from an approved accrediting body Examples include but are not limited to Healthcare Sterile Processing Association HSPA or the Certified Board of Sterile Processing Department CBSPDmiddot Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention principlesmiddot Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with exposure to all patient elements i e bloodborne pathogensmiddot Ability to learn knowledge and understanding of radiology safety by completing required radiation safety educationmiddot Demonstrated ability to identify unsafe practices and partner with team to correct improper wearing of lead dosimeters damaged lead broken equipment Shares knowledge that is relevant
