Girls Varsity Beach Volleyball Head CoachEF Academy, PasadenaSummary: EF Academy, Pasadena is looking for a Head Coach to help lead the Girls Beach Volleyball team that will emphasize the development of life skills, and provide a valuable experience for students, in support of the mission and vision of EF Academy. EF Academy competes in the Liberty League for Beach Volleyball, which involves playing league matches at Sorrento Beach in Santa Monica; Game schedule is available upon request. Looking to start practices by Monday, 2/3, with the first game on Tuesday, 2/18. EF Academy has one beach court on campus, and will likely use our indoor gym for morning practices. The Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for day-to-day supervision of assigned assistant coaches; all coaches ultimately report to the Athletic Director (Justin Clapp, justin.clapp@ef.com) EF Academy Ethos:We take our responsibility of ‘in loco parentis’ very seriously. They discover new talents and hobbies, and unlock their leadership potential through sports, clubs, the arts, student government and community service. Minimum Requirements:Experience playing and/or coaching competitive athletics, particularly indoor volleyball, at or above the high school level for 3 years.Acquire, possess, and maintain current coaching certifications and trainings as required by CIF and the State of California before employment can begin.3+ years working with high school aged students preferred.In-depth knowledge of volleyball skills, concepts, and strategies.Ability to implement, teach, and coach volleyball rotations. Possess a California Driver’s License to transport students off-campus.  Professional Qualifications and Qualities:Motivated, adaptable, and visionary leader.Demonstrates teamwork, humility, and support in identifying, pursuing, and achieving a shared vision.Effectively communicates with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators.Manages time effectively while meeting deadlines and commitments.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership, supervision, and overall organization of the assigned athletic team.Embrace the responsibility for the care of athletes and the team, in support of in loco parentis.Assess and instructs athletes, individually and in groups, regarding the basic and advanced nuances of the assigned sport, including sport-specific rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.Strategize, prepare, supervise, and coach the assigned athletic team at all scheduled practices, games, and events.Establish, maintain, and model expectations of behavior for athletes and the team that reflect positively upon EF Academy Pasadena.Demonstrate and promote sportsmanship towards opponents, teammates, officials, and spectators.Serve as a mentor to athletes, supporting and encouraging their holistic growth.Frequently and proactively collaborate with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, transportation, facility, equipment, and other team needs.Drive the athletic team to all off-campus events, particularly competitions.Implement and ensure proper care, use, and safety of athletic equipment, supplies, and facilities.Implement, follow, and monitor athletic team compliance with all CIF-SS, Athletic Department, and EF Academy rules and regulations. Follow established procedures in the event of an athletic injury, including chaperoning an athlete to an Urgent Care or hospital as required. Frequently collaborate with the Health Center regarding health-related situations of athletes that may impact their availability. Collaborate regarding team lifts, workouts, and conditioning.Attend meetings and award ceremonies as requested.Be an active participant with the EF community.Other duties as assigned. Working Schedule:Working schedule is dependent upon finalizing team practice schedules, travel schedules (departure/return times), applicant availability, and competition schedules. Sundays are always off. Team will be 10-12 girls to field 5 pairs. Likely indoor practices Monday (6:30-8am) and Wednesday (6:30-8:30am) to access 2 indoor courts. Outdoor practices in afternoons on our 1 beach court with lights. The position will start no later than Monday, February 3, and will likely conclude on April 16 pending playoffs. Practices or games are held each weekday. The weekly hours will vary, but it will likely range from 12-18 hours per week. There are no practices/games from March 6 through March 25 due to Spring Break. Compensation:This is an hourly position, and the anticipated hiring range is $25-30 per hour.
