Job Summary: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented GIS Specialist to join our Outdoor Advertising Program team. As a GIS Specialist, you will primarily be responsible for assisting in the management, analysis, and mapping of geospatial data related to outdoor advertising within the state of Tennessee. Your expertise in GIS technology and data analysis will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with state regulations and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in GIS technology and data analysis.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Assist in the collection, management, and maintenance of geospatial data related to outdoor advertising, including billboard locations, permit information, and inspection records.Conduct data analysis and generate reports to support decision-making processes within the Outdoor Advertising Program.Utilize GIS software and tools to create accurate and up-to-date maps and visualizations of outdoor advertising assets.Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including TDOT staff and other departments, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of GIS data.Support the development and implementation of GIS data standards and procedures to ensure consistent and efficient data management practices.Assist in the coordination of field data collection efforts, including GPS surveys and asset inspections.Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in GIS technology to recommend improvements and enhancements to the Outdoor Advertising Program.Provide technical assistance and training to program staff and external stakeholders on GIS-related matters.Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to outdoor advertising through spatial analysis and reporting.Assist other groups with GIS-related projects, technical assistance, and training. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Strong proficiency in GIS software such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.Experience in geospatial data management, analysis, and mapping.Knowledge of geodatabase design and maintenance.Familiarity with GPS data collection techniques and equipment.Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately with complex data.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Familiarity with outdoor advertising regulations and practices is a plus.

 

Working Conditions:

This position is primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork.Travel within the state of Tennessee may be required.
