Complete Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the GIS Data Coordinator in completing the Vector Property Map Transfer of Jurisdiction project and various projects include updating GIS datasets, researching and collecting new geospatial and attribute data, and contributing to the production of map publications. The analyst will also perform various data creation and enhancement activities as part of the District of Columbia Geographic Information System (DCGIS) enterprise geodatabase. 

 

Primary responsibilities:

•Perform implementation, processing, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC on updated and new DC GIS data, as well as compile metadata.

•Create, translate and integrate GIS data layers, and digitize new data using a variety of software.

•Coordinate with other technicians and analysts in various data development, update, and project support initiatives.

•Provide technical expertise and support to District agencies, personnel, and users in GIS and data efforts.

•Complete special requests for various Agencies by utilizing existing data, analyzing results, and producing reports, maps, and supporting documentation.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Essential skills:

•Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as geography or planning.

•Expertise using ESRI GIS software products, especially ArcGIS 9.x and 10.x desktop.

•Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods related to GIS.

•Working knowledge of GIS techniques such as map production, editing, and geocoding.

•working experience with editing and updating the Vector Property Map

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
