**What is a GIS Analyst?**
A GIS Analyst updates and maintains data and data models for several systems whose data sets reside in the company’s enterprise GIS. The Analyst’s primary duties will require as-built data capture and QA/QC for the company’s enterprise asset GIS. In addition, the analyst will work closely with in-house owners of integrated systems to ensure information is captured quickly and accurately. This position will also involve field GIS data verification and data capture to ensure accurate recording of facility information.
**What does a GIS Analyst do?**
+ Assists current GIS and IT staff in the architecture and configuration of Oracle and SQL Server relational databases
+ Updates asset GIS data obtained from external and internal sources regularly with reconciliation and QA/QC
+ Handles requests for spatial analysis, map publishing and manages versioned updates to the GIS database
+ Assists with the configuration of web servers/services of the enterprise GIS.
+ Aids in the customization of the various web accessible components of the enterprise GIS
+ Provides direction to the GIS technicians performing updates to the GIS database and associated data sets
+ Trains and assists users in various company groups working with the GIS software and data
+ The analyst will act as a knowledge expert on matters pertaining to the geo-database and the data stored within
+ Supports storm/emergency restoration efforts
**What does it take to be a GIS Analyst?**
**Required:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Science or related field of study and prior experience with the ESRI ArcGIS suite of products. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, candidates with an associate’s degree in the aforementioned fields and 3 years of prior experience with the ESRI ArcGIS suite of products will be considered
+ Familiarity with relational database systems
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills and innovative problem-solving ability
+ Experience with Python or other programing languages, such as: C#, VBA, R, Arcade, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, HTML, XML, etc.
+ Experience working with a Versioned Enterprise Geodatabase
+ A valid driver’s license
**Preferred:**
+ A bachelor’s degree with a field of study in Geography
+ Experience with ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcFM
+ Experience with the Esri Electric Utility Network
+ Prior experience in gas & electric utility disciplines
+ Previous direct supervision / project lead experience
+ Experience integrating Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) with GIS systems
