Who You Are:
Versar is seeking a GIS Enterprise Solution Engineer and Data Manager for our Geospatial & Digital Solutions (GDS) Market Sector. This position will report directly to the GDS Deputy Director – HUB Team and support internal data workflows and services, implement, and maintain GIS infrastructure, increase efficiencies, and reinforce the foundation for innovation and advancement for our spatial data program. The position requires skills and services that will enable our analysts and customers with the ability to dynamically interact with data and products throughout various stages project lifecycles. Primary work location is flexible with office, hybrid, or telework options.
The ideal candidate will have the knowledge and experience to work with an established ESRI GIS Enterprise system, manage SDE data, configure and adapt the Enterprise solution to meet program needs, have experience with Portal and ArcGIS Online web-mapping solutions, web programming and development, as well as Open-Source solutions. Specific tasks include but are not limited to supporting data management objectives such as data consolidation and centralization, quality control and assurance, versioning, and automation of tasks/workflows. The candidate will also need to demonstrate the ability to create products that allow data and information to be disseminated and visualized using both proprietary and non-proprietary open-source software solutions.
What You’ll Do:
Engage with managed services clients on a regular basis, providing technical recommendations while fostering organizational GIS growth and system stability.Strategize recommendations to improve client environments, including the design of appropriate architecture patterns that best fit client needs.Communicate effectively with internal and external teams to provide regular project updates.Lead administrative tasks including security checks, system monitoring setup, conducting health checks, and implementing scheduled tasks.Advise on best practices for data and imagery services, Portal user/group management, enterprise geodatabase strategies.Collaborate internally to develop technical recommendations documents, standard operating procedures, and training/demo materials to present to clients.What You’ll Bring:
BS/BA in geography, geographic information systems, information technologies, engineering, or a closely related field.Certifications preferred (e.g., GISP)A minimum of 5 years of GIS Enterprise data management and web application development Experience and competency with Python, VBA, JavaScript, SQL, JSONFamiliarity with Open Geospatial ConsortiumAbility to work with multi-disciplinary natural resource, engineering, and modeling teamsStrong written and oral communication skills with colleagues and clientsMust be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Expertise with ArcGIS Enterprise and QGIS installation/configuration/updates, system patching/maintenance, license renewals, and detail-oriented troubleshootingA well-rounded understanding of the ArcGIS ecosystem, including ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, ArcGIS Pro workflows, and the suite of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications.Solid foundational knowledge of web technologies/concepts; HTML5, CSS, REST, ES6+, Web3D, etc.Proven experience documenting business requirements, architecting business solutions based on client need that adhere to operational, architectural and design standards and principles.Understanding of modern development tools such as version control, NodeJS/NPM, debugging, virtual environments, build systems, unit testing frameworks.Experience in User Centered Design concepts and application to development practicesFamiliarity with QGIS, Leafmap, GeoPandas, DuckDB, PostGIS, GDAL, and other open-source software to create, edits, visualize, analyze, and publish geospatial information. Programming and scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, and/or HTML5 (modern web frameworks) including experience with automation scripting (e.g., ArcGIS API for Python, Command line, etc.)Experience with ArcGIS Server roles (Hosting, Image, GeoEvent, etc.) installation, configuration, and architecture patterns.Firm foundation with various system architecture patterns, including single/multi-machine environments, on-prem/cloud implementations, hybrid, and high availability deployments.QA/QC GIS data, configure, and administer web-based GIS solutions.Data management, maintenance, and troubleshootingGIS metadata, semantics, and ontologySpatial and non-spatial database linkages, spatial queries, and analyticsWeb-mapping solutions for internal and external usersData interoperability with CAD and 3D Visualization software packagesExperience with point clouds, imagery, and elevation model data Independently analyze problems and provide technical solutions.Provide technical guidance and information to end users.Location Requirements

Compensation
Expected Salary: $115,000 – $150,000
