Position OverviewKiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a highly skilled GIS Lead to join our Survey Team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing KIE’s GIS requirements and processes during the design phase of our projects. Your leadership and technical expertise will be crucial in guiding the team and ensuring the successful integration of GIS solutions.
District OverviewKiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused architects and engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. This position is based out of our Lone Tree, CO office.
Responsibilities• Lead and manage the KIE GIS department, ensuring high performance and professional development.
• As the technology in the company grows, hire and manage direct reports on day-to-day performance of their roles.
• Design, develop, and implement GIS applications and tools tailored to Kiewit’s projects and processes.
• Maintain and enhance spatial databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Stay updated with the latest GIS technologies and best practices.
• Support the development of innovation/technology and leverage GIS data for new applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS solutions into broader business processes.
• Interface with internal and external IT, Engineering, and other departments to coordinate project development and support.
• Provide guidance and advice to other workstreams outside GIS, as needed.
• Provide integration between Bentley Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other functional systems.
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control for all GIS deliverables and internal GIS database tools.
• Oversee data storage and organization of GIS data across the organization.
• Assist in generating and promoting the use of company-wide standards for implementation in the applicable workstreams.
• Be involved in new projects during the scope development phase to ensure proper resourcing, effective communication, and clear understanding of the scope.
• Provide Subject Matter Expert level resources to all projects within their workstream.
• Develop proposals, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
• Provide proposal review/input for workstream-related projects.
• Ensure process documentation, processes, and workflows are maintained, developed, and applied appropriately.
• Ability to work with and train various engineering disciplines on the use and application of GIS.
• Collaborate and communicate between different Kiewit entities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical expertise, organization skills, and partner management capabilities, with extensive experience leading technical implementation projects requiring partner input and communications.
• 8-10 years of experience in GIS and spatial analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field.
• GIS Project & Resource Management experience.
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro/Online, location-based services, geo-enabled apps, spatial analytics, or similar geospatial technology.
• Knowledge of software engineering and robust application development principles, including service-oriented and cloud computing architecture.
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proven ability to efficiently oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all timelines are met.
• Intermediate level of understanding of survey principles and practices. Particularly, grid to ground, coordinate systems, topographic surveys, etc.
• Travel possible up to 10% of the time.
Preferred
• Experience with the Python programing language.
• Prior Consulting Experience.
• Ability to switch between and utilize Bentley Open Roads Designer, Autodesk Civil 3D, and .kmz files.
• Experience with Machine Learning concepts and AI Integration.
• Knowledge of environmental permitting.

Base Compensation: $110,000/yr - $150,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
