DESCRIPTION
The GIS Technician will join the National Geospatial Practice and will be focused on a specific project for a long-term client for at least the first year of employment. As the Technician increases GIS capabilities, there will be the ability to get involved in GIS projects all over the country with a variety of clients. This specific role may have the opportunity to be hybrid or remote; however, since it is for a specific client, they may require the team to return to the office in Reno, Nevada. Therefore, the candidate must be open to this possibility and be located near this office.
Responsibilities include hands-on evaluation and manipulation of spatial and attribute information, data conversion, cartographic mapping, and a willingness to increase skillsets with training, research, and working with teammates on potentially complex projects. This position will be focused on working with GIS data in relation to utilities and telecommunications. The ideal candidate will:
•Have solid knowledge of GIS concepts and spatial relationships
•Reconcile results of geospatial analysis to prepare documentation and reports
•Be familiar with data procurement and quality assurance
•Have the ability to provide deliverables in a timely manner
•Effectively communicate regarding data needs, priorities, and on support matters
•Have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum two-year degree or applicable professional experience; bachelor’s degree (or higher) in GIS, Geography, Science, or related field of study is preferred
2-3 years of experience working directly with GIS data. 2-3 years of experience with the Esri ArcGIS suite. ·Must be able to demonstrate GIS mapping and analysis skills including, but not limited to cartographic techniques, geoprocessing ToolBox familiarity. Has worked with ArcGIS Online web maps, dashboards, applications, and surveys. The ability to understand client operations. Must have the ability to work both independently, with limited supervision, and as part of a geographically dispersed team. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Ability to be responsive via Microsoft Teams, email, and/or phone calls as is required. Technical documentation development skills are a plus Ability to translate technical concepts into layman’s terms Ability to coordinate with project stakeholders Strong analytical abilities, solid analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify and solve client issues.COMPENSATION
The range for this role is $44,387 – $65,249. This will be dependent on the skills of the incoming candidate.
