GIS Technician - Part Time

Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support within the Environmental Service Line from our Jacksonville, Florida office. Perform data acquisition, data management, data analysis and data visualization in support of projects and corporate initiatives. Determine appropriate data sources and methods, develop technical workflows and create technical maps, exhibits, and models to support project needs. Support field data collection efforts by providing and configuring appropriate tools to meet accuracy and attribution criteria. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and currency of all geospatial project data and maintaining technical documentation and metadata, as appropriate. Ensure that all GIS deliverables meet a high level of quality and comply with corporate standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Research, compile, and review spatial data from public and proprietary sources.Perform specific GIS tasks under supervision, developing familiarity with projects and engineering/environmental design and operating procedures.Create project GIS maps and exhibits.Document project workflows, data sources, and data limitations.Assist in the creation of advanced GIS products and data models.Set up and configure appropriate tools for field data collection based on project needs.Perform field data collection, data transfer, and postprocessing.Compile technical project data from various sources, including field notes and engineering plans.Scan, georeferenced raster images and digitize hardcopy plans. Assist in the development of GIS workflows, databases, and map products.Follows safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects. Flexible work environment with potential for hybrid work schedule.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, engineering, computer science or related field. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 4 years’ related experience will be considered.Experience with ArcGIS Desktop and extensions, ArcGIS Online, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.Familiarity with relational databases.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
