GL Accounting Manager

This role involves managing the month-end close process, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and leading a team of professionals to maintain accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

 General Ledger Management 

Oversee all aspects of the General Ledger (GL), ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.  Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.  Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements. 

 Financial Reporting 

Prepare and review financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.  Collaborate with FP&A and other departments to provide insights into financial performance and variances.  Support external audits by providing requested documentation and resolving any issues promptly. 

 Team Leadership 

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.  Assign responsibilities and set performance goals for team members, conducting regular evaluations and providing constructive feedback.  Identify training needs and opportunities for professional growth within the team. 

 Process Improvement 

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in GL accounting operations.  Evaluate and recommend accounting systems or tools to streamline workflows and reporting capabilities.  Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for GL-related activities. 

 Compliance & Controls 

Ensure strong internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and maintain data integrity.  Monitor compliance with accounting policies and procedures, recommending updates as necessary.  Stay informed of changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring the company remains compliant. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.  Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, including 3+ years in a leadership role.  Strong experience with GL accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.  Knowledge of ERP systems, with proficiency in tools such as NetSuite, Great Plains, Workday and Concur.  Deep understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.  Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
