Do you have a deep subject matter expertise and a passion for risk management? We’re looking for a professional to join our First line Global Banking and Markets Operational Risk team. In this role, you would partner with front to back business units supporting our client franchise to manage and improve our operational risk profile. Your opportunity for high visibility impact includes analyzing the key risks and controls managed by GBM, applying risk management tools to monitor and communicate to the leadership group these risks, associated remediation plans, and sharing best practices to continuously improve risk management culture and the control environment.

OUR IMPACT

The First line Global Banking and Markets Operational Risk team employs key components of the firm risk management framework to continuously measure and assess levels of risk for existing/new processes. In addition to being affiliated with specific product and/or functional areas, the First line Global Banking and Markets Operational Risk team partners with the second line Risk Division in order to improve consistency of risk measure and assessment practices.

 

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

Advises, challenges, informs the line teams on recommended ways to mitigate risk; reviews actions items to ensure that risk is being sufficiently addressedActs as a culture carrier by embedding in the team or region; Identifies ways to share risk best practice across teams and functions, and with other business lines where like processes exist/there is exposure to similar riskDrive projects improving and maintaining tools supporting the operational risk frameworkComfortable leading co-ordination across teams during market events to manage information exchange and triage emerging riskPartners with the business lines to understand the residual risks that exist after issues are resolved and engage across the front to back to apply lessons learned to improve our risk and control frameworkAnalyzes issues for themes, patterns, and emerging risksWorks closely with senior divisional leadership to implement and support an issues management program for Global Banking and Markets, including managing issues and remediation Provides guidance on best practices for remediation to ensure sustainable solutions Provides ongoing education and guidance on self identifying issues across first line and second line functions              Develops management reporting, reporting dashboards, and strategic tools to highlight high risks and issues and facilitate escalation of risks, issues, and remediation to senior leadershipIncreases awareness and communications on lessons learned within the function / business line 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

This role requires an energetic self-starter that can liaise across Global Banking and Markets both regionally and globally. Solid understanding of the global markets franchise offered by the firm and experience within a risk management or control discipline context are required. Solid knowledge & experience in the Financial IndustryStrong interpersonal and analytical skills along with an interest in the broader control environment within financial services are essential to succeed in this roleStrong control mindset with a passion for risk managementExcellent communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas with different levels across Global Banking and Markets stakeholdersStrong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows, and excellent attention to detailsSound time management skills to be able to effectively prioritize and multi-taskGood interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate as a global team and build strong relationship with key stakeholders across Divisions.Aptitude handling large data sets, synthesizing a variety of information to describe a risk and control profile Strong Powerpoint and Excel Skills required6+ years in the Financial Services / Banking industry 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Practical experience in Sales and Trading, First Line Risk and Controls, Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance or Operations functionsKnowledge of Data Management and/or Visualization (ie Alteryx) a strong plusKnowledge of Operational Risk is a plusExperience in process redesign and executing strategic concepts from inception to implementation is a plus

Salary Range 
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
