As a Vice President of Product Control within Global Banking (GB) Finance and Business Management, you will play a crucial role in driving the financial integrity and strategic direction of Commercial Banking (CB). This position requires a strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, with a particular focus on lending and payments products and financial reporting.
Job responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS9) by reviewing and aligning with firmwide accounting policies and implementing best practices. Collaborate with Firmwide Financial Control and other corporate groups to support monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Conduct comprehensive variance analyses on balance sheets and income statements, identifying and proposing adjustments to ensure accuracy. Review and validate calculations and reports prepared by Wholesale Credit Risk for the Allowance for Loan Losses under the Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) methodology and deliver detailed commentary to support management decision-making. Provide accurate and timely financial data for regulatory and SEC reporting, ensuring data integrity and compliance with applicable standards. Collaborate with front and back-office support functions to address control and reporting issues, emphasizing financial integrity and control compliance. Review the calculation, analysis, and reporting of risk-weighted assets, ensuring regulatory compliance and providing insights to optimize RWA management. Support adherence to P&L standards, offering guidance to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting. Offer accounting guidance for unusual transactions and new business initiatives. Contribute to key business transformation activities from a financial perspective, ensuring alignment with accounting, reporting, and control requirements.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Over 6 years of experience in an accounting or finance-related role, with a focus on financial reporting and control. Proven expertise in month-end close accounting functions and financial statement review. Strong understanding and experience in the calculation and reporting of risk-weighted assets (RWA). Knowledge of P&L standards and experience in maintaining financial consistency across business units. Proficient in financial accounting standards and banking regulations, including Call Report, IFRS9, Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Basel III Proven ability to analyze financial data, conduct variance analysis, and deliver actionable insights, with advanced skills in data analytics tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint, general ledger applications (SAP), Essbase, and Business Objects. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial processes, aligning strategies with business objectives. Skilled in managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while promoting team collaboration. Excellent communication skills for developing strong partnerships with peers, clients and stakeholders, with proven ability to lead and mentor junior team members.Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
CPA or equivalent certification. Familiarity with Alteryx and Essbase is a plus. Experience in Wholesale Lending and/or Commercial Real Estate accounting.
