Make your mark for patients
We are looking for a Global Category Lead who is innovative, adaptable, and collaborative to join our Research & Development Procurement Department, based in our offices in Raleigh, USA or Brussels, Belgium. The role reports to the Head of R&D Procurement.
About the role
You will have responsibility for a specific spend area of the Global R&D outsourced activities and develop end-to-end best sourcing strategies. You will also create and guide value creation initiatives which improve quality of service and supply. Additionally, you will develop partnerships with strategic vendors to achieve UCB targets.
Who you’ll work with
You will partner closely with senior stakeholders from our Clinical Development teams, as well as partnering with external suppliers and vendors. You will also develop a team of procurement managers and closely collaborate with contract managers and partnership managers to facilitate delivery.
What you’ll do
Develop a comprehensive strategy for the procurement of R&D outsourced activities in scope.Provide market dynamics, benchmarking, and market intelligence to identify potential new partners.Collaborate with key stakeholders to deploy strategies globally, facilitated by implementation and transition plans.Direct strategic sourcing, including tendering when required, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged, and requirements fully captured.Lead commercial negotiations.Deliver Master agreements and maintain approved list of selected preferred suppliers.Promote and contribute to strategic supplier relationship management.

Bachelor’s degree or above.Experience working for a large multinational organization.Ability to lead others but also work independently.Pharma experience is preferred.
