Typical Accountabilities:
• Plans and reviews the performance of Procurement and other function teams within area of responsibility
• Plans, manages and controls overall allocation of resources
• Ensures appropriate supplier management methods are applied
• Directs new initiatives and improvement programmes aimed at ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, technical excellence and improving cost-effectiveness
• Recruits, defines goals, sets and manages performance standards for a multi-functional team able to deliver procurement projects to time, cost and quality standards
• Advises on and drives procurement strategy ensuring procurement processes are in line with organisational objectives
• Leads a multi-disciplinary team defining and achieving Procurement efficiency and work standards and associated procedures, to ensure the assets meet business needs and satisfy external regulators
• Leads, defines and gains approval of business needs and the translation of these needs into specific resource requirements
• Coaches and develops professional aspects of Procurement team members
• Develops senior level contacts in order to resolve issues, optimise business performance and develop future improvement opportunities

• Approximate number of people managed in total (all levels) - 10-20
• Grandfather (manager of a manager)
• Matrix Manager – (projects/dotted line)
What is the global remit? (how many countries will the role operate in?):
• 2 or 3 countries at a minimum of 40% of time
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Essential: Degree level qualification; Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical industry; Expertise in at least one area of Procurement and knowledge of several others; Proven leadership experience ; Communication skills and ability to influence others; Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations
