Job Description

The Director of Global EHS will report to the General Counsel and head of the Law, Policy and Governance Department. The Director of Global EHS will closely partner with the ESW business verticals, Legal, Compliance, Ombuds, HR, and Real Estate Facilities Management functions, as well as customer and vendor EHS representatives and external safety & regulatory agencies.

This position is responsible for leading the Global EHS team, consisting of two other full-time employees as well as three contractors.  The overall ESW EHS team manages EHS risks, ensures compliance with GE Vernova corporate requirements and standards, with a particular focus on ESW office locations, remote workers, and work performed by the business verticals at customer project locations. In addition, this position will help contribute to the identification and management of overall global risk at GE by providing technical assistance and expertise to the Electrification Software chief risk officer.  The Global EHS Director also represents the ESW business on the GE Vernova Safety Council, chaired by the company’s Chief Safety Officer.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Act as leader, manager, advisor, and coach to other team membersLead global EHS programs to meet business General Manager, Commercial Operations Leader, Customer, and regulatory requirementsIdentify, quantify, document, and manage risk within GE Digital’s scope of operationsLead oversight & management of the EHS Framework applications (where applicable) as well as implantation of relevant GE Vernova core standards and policiesWork with the training team to develop employees and EHS team members technical competencyEstablish key performance metrics, reporting priorities, and monitor performance against targetsAct as primary escalation point for all EHS related issues in the ESW business; serve as the EHS functional expert on Crisis Management TeamsManage global EHS vendor relationships, which may include: RFPs, budgeting, supply chain analysis, contractor workforce management, etc.Implement industry best practices while focusing on Commercial Operations support, business productivity, and optimization of operationsManage implementation of employee wellness programs, occupational health, and management of part-time occupational health nurse.Communicate with different employee work groups about safety matters, especially the GE Vernova Lifesaving Rules, helping build a strang safety culture and knowledge of EHS policies, procedures, and duties in the ESW business.Requires up to moderate travel (20%).

Qualifications/Requirements

Customer-focused team player with strong written, verbal, and technology-based communication skillsDemonstrated ability to collaborate, build, develop, lead, and manage teams and partners in a geographically distributed environmentBachelor’s degree from an accredited college in relevant field of study and 10+ years of experience in global EHS programs for an industrial company in a complex regulatory environmentProfessional fluency in English required; fluency in one or more regionally relevant additional languages desired (eg: French, Hindi, Arabic, Russian, etc)A valid passport without restrictions for business travel within the regions ESW operatesMastery of complex and highly technical Risk & Compliance concepts and principles, as well as operating successfully in a matrixed environment.Specific experience with EHS programs involving any or all of the following: fixed facilities, EHS auditing, service operations, field sites; preferably in the manufacturing, energy, power generation, software, and/or renewables sectorsExperience with EHS certification programs such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, etc.Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability regulations
