Finance Process Modernization (“FPM”) is responsible for evaluating the enterprise finance functions, to streamline and implementing new automated processes and systems to better serve our internal stakeholders which include business units across North America and Asia. We operate across all Segments of Manulife liaising with CFOs and Controllers across multiple entities to establish requirements, build systemic solutions, and implement new processes to manage complex data sets to drive financial analysis and simplify business decision-making.
Role and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager of Power Suite COE team, this role is primarily accountable for supporting our Finance teams globally to migrate from excel spreadsheets to Power BI, deliver new BI dashboards, and drive value by empowering decision making through data, reporting, analysis, and insights. Responsibilities include the following:
Create visualizations for data in Power BI, work on reports/dashboards based upon defined request and requirements from stakeholders and maintain a catalog of reports’ use and purpose.Conduct data analysis and craft data visualization solutions on Power BI to support our various business stakeholders.Maintain queue of report requests from initiation through to completion, including their detailed requirements.Provide consultancy to business units for detailed information on data availability, location, lineage, and quality.Participate in business analysis activities to maintain reports and enhancements requests as needed.Analyze business problems to determine the best way to apply BI capabilities to deliver solutions.Enforce rules and procedures for cleaning, integrating, and reconciling information/data from various sourcesMaintain and grow working knowledge of enterprise data assets and data-centric business processes within the Finance systems.Build trust and credibility with business users by analyzing business requirements/objectives and monitoring of key measures related to key stakeholder satisfaction.Devise and deliver testing plans and testing data to validate BI solutions, coordinate user testingAssist end users with troubleshooting reports.Create report standards and best practices or guidelines for repeatable processes.Provide detailed source analysis and data mappings to implement new data sources/integrations.Fully document all data processes and BI technical design for transparency and on-going support.Qualifications
University degree in accounting, finance, or business management.Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field preferred4+ years expertise with Power BI dashboards, analyzing data and visualization using Finance dataBackend/coding knowledge is preferred but should be willing to learn.Partnering with data engineers for data sourcing design.Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. High curiosity and ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.Execution-oriented with strong focus to deliver targeted outcomes.Innovative thinker with the ability to negotiate, influence and challenge the status quo to continuously improve processes.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and influencing skills.
