Reporting into the Manager of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), which is part of FCC Investigations within GFCD Operations, this position is responsible for conducting investigations derived from the Bank’s participation in public-private partnerships.
FCC Investigations is responsible for investigating complex anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism finance risk, and other financial crime matters resulting from law enforcement referrals, proactive initiatives, 314a/314b, and internal referrals.
The primary area of responsibility for the PPP team is managing and conducting investigations that derive from various engagements with law enforcement. The team coordinates investigations of significant matters with global impact or of a highly sensitive nature. The team may also undertake global complex investigations into potential financial crimes risks that could have a significant impact on the Bank and engages with law enforcement and peer institutions to stay abreast of and internalize relevant financial crimes typologies.
The PPP team works closely with Financial Crimes Advisory partners in the Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions and Anti-Bribery and Corruption space. Together, the teams ensure that potential financial crimes risk identified by FCC Investigations is mitigated.
The work of the PPP team enjoys a high-level executive audience within and outside of the Financial Crimes function, so the successful candidate will be expected to deliver oral briefings and written products of the highest caliber and adeptly manage a heavy, time-sensitive caseload of predominantly sensitive or high-priority cases.
Skills You’ll Have:
Knowledge of criminal typologies and experience investigating financial crimes
Technical or functional experience in financial services and/or related government entity
Knowledge of global markets, banking and investment banking businesses, and related financial crimes risks
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to distill a complicated fact pattern into a coherent and concise narrative
Strong command in English (written and spoken)
Proficiency with MS Office programs and ability to quickly learn proprietary technology applications
Experience analyzing large amounts of data, intelligence and information in order to detect suspicious activity
Ability to work in a high energy environment and adhere to strict deadlines
Be a team player, with ability to work independently
Exercise discretion while prioritizing case work based upon management direction
Ability to thoroughly analyze and make case-related decisions with justification
Experience using closed-sourced and open-sourced research channels
Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure that potential financial crimes risk is acted on in a timely way
Communicate to key stakeholders, including leadership of the Global Financial Crimes Division, emerging risks, new significant matters, progress in ongoing matters, financial crimes risk identified within the Bank, and plans for addressing any such risk
Coordinate with regional FCC Investigations and FCC Data Analysis teams to implement the global model
Prepare communications and presentations to be shared with business line executives and senior management
Experience/Skills
Bachelor's Degree.
At least 3-6 years of experience in a Bank, government agency or law enforcement agency in a function that demonstrates expertise in AML, BSA and Financial Crimes.
Experience interacting with the Executive Committee Leadership, control function leadership, and compliance subject matter experts.
Proven excellence in execution in complex and demanding situations, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Collaborative with strong interpersonal communication skills.
Systemic thinker across enterprise.
Process oriented coupled with a strong ability to develop appropriate program enhancing strategies.
Detail-oriented and organized execution.
Possess an Enterprise-level Risk Management perspective.
Comfortable working in data tables or spreadsheets with large numbers of transactions and be able to summarize the overall activity clearly and concisely
Additional skills
Experience interfacing with banking regulators and law enforcement.
Thorough understanding of an effective financial crimes risk management framework.
Knowledge of Bank systems.
The typical base pay range for this role is between $90k - $112k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
